The Colburn School has a long-held dream to build a major theatrical space that would prepare young musicians and dancers to perform on great stages around the world.
With the opening of the new Colburn Center, the dream to elevate our student experience will become a reality.
In doing so, we are ensuring a thriving future for classical arts, creating a space for today’s musicians to pass on their expertise to our young artists, and inspire future audiences.
A study conducted with leadership of 23 local performing arts institutions revealed that 95% of participants strongly desired opportunities to perform in a major concert hall and that such a space would be actively booked year-round by community partners. Given this enthusiasm, the Building Our Future campaign is raising endowment funds to offer free and reduced rent for eligible organizations.
Building Our Future promises to enrich the lives of countless Angelenos: community organizations craving an exceptional performance experience, the School’s young artists sharpening their abilities, audiences eager to enjoy music and dance, and the downtown LA public in need of rejuvenating green spaces.
