Personal Perspective: A Hall for All

With groundbreaking underway, we can’t wait to realize this “vibrant, welcoming space” which many Angelenos, like Terri and Jerry Kohl, have been dreaming.

Since its inception, the Colburn Center project has been purposefully centered on community: nurturing and strengthening it through the power of the arts. One of the first to voice their support for this campus expansion, the Kohls made a transformational gift in the quiet phase of the campaign which names the 1,000-seat concert hall and also seeds an endowment fund to help underwrite access to the venue for LA-based performing arts organizations, artists, and ensembles. We are grateful to the Kohls for their inspiring support that makes it possible for Colburn to ensure vibrant community use of this space year-round.

“Our dream is to create a vibrant, welcoming space for the Los Angeles community—a hall for organizations of all sizes currently without a place to call home, where diverse ensembles and artists from across the city can share their performances with an audience that reflects the makeup of the population of Los Angeles. We feel deeply honored to be recognized for our part in realizing this wonderful project, which will do so much for the entire community of Los Angeles.”
